Palo Duro is a trio whose first album, “Comanche Moon” received West Quests Historian award for promotion and preservation of Western Heritage. Now has available its second album “Cowpokes, Horses, & Old Glory”, which was nominated for Western Album of the year in 2005 and has had three cuts in the top twenty on national radio play, including a month at number one by “Finnish the Job”.
The group, which has been performing as the house band for the Elkins Ranch for the last six years, is made up of Jim Anderson, his son Cody Anderson, and Jaelynn Lucas. Jim was born and raised on a farming and ranching operation in Lamesa, Texas and Alamosa Colorado. He provides the guitar and writes songs and poetry used by the trio, celebrating the Western ideals. Cody, an award winning musician, is the lead vocalist and bass player for Palo Duro, and has served two terms as president of the South Western Cowboy Poets Association in Amarillo. Jaelynn has been traveling and involved with music since she was nine years old. An accomplished vocalist and songwriter, as well as violin player, Jaylynn is the youngest member of the group. She just completed the prestigious South Plains Performing Artist program and now calls Austin her home. She adds the finishing touch to the sound that is now called Palo Duro.
Members of both AWA and WMA, the trio has welded its sound together over the last few years, and is now traveling extensively to head line at some of the more prestigious Cowboy gatherings around the country.
