Michael Moon developed his love of music and horses while growing up in Mariposa, California. He wrote his first songs while still in high school. After attending college he found himself gravitating back toward his family’s rural roots and began working at guest ranches and cattle ranches in the high country of Colorado while continuing to play and write songs. He met his wife Dawn while they both were working there on a guest ranch. Dawn had come west from Ohio in search of “adventure” and brought her fine singing voice and heart that helped her take to ranch life with ease. Dawn and Michael served a short stint in the Peace Corps in Ecuador, but came home early to welcome their first child Aidan into the world. Since then, Ruth, Cole, and Eli have also become a part of the family. They lived on Spring Creek Ranch in Colorado, then Michael became the foreman on The Matador Ranch, outside of Malta MT. They currently live on the Rowe Mesa Grass Bank, east of Santa Fe, NM, where Michael is manager. Michael and Dawn have continue to sing and play - Michael has recorded two solo albums and they have recorded their first CD together, called “Land of the Columbine,” available here.
